Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze continues his anti-European rhetoric and calls odious the MEPs who held a meeting with Mtavari Channel founder Nika Gvaramia in the European Parliament. According to Kobakhidze, this meeting demonstrates the European Parliament's attitude towards media freedom.
"Firstly, when specific MEPs, odious MEPs themselves, meet with media-zonder, this in itself indicates an attitude, among other things, towards media freedom. I will remind you that Gvaramia's past is directly linked to gross violations of media freedom. The government invaded Imedi with special forces and Nika Gvaramia was the main person who packed it.When such a person is met by MEPs and then awarded with a specific prize, it certainly indicates an attitude and also once again confirms what we have been saying.Salome Zurabishvili carried out an order and the main purpose of this order was to deepen polarisation in Georgia, which was pointed out by the same Lexmann. This is sad, but it won't harm us at all" - says Irakli Kobakhidze.
For information, on July 10, Nika Gvaramia arrived in Strasbourg at the invitation of the European Parliament. The founder of "Mtavari Channel" started meetings with MEPs on July 11.
