Authorities that fail to prevent occupation of the country, do not deserve to return to politics - Gharibashvili

Published:

During the presentation of the Georgian Dream's Kakheti majoritarian MP, the Defense Minister IrakliGharibashvili started his speech with the August war and reiterated that the "oppressive government" of then-President Mikheil Saakashvili failed to avoid the occupation.

“If we forget the past, there will be a danger that our country, our population will continue to face the great ordeal that we all experienced together just 12 years ago. Tragedy, the August 2008 war is great pain, a tragedy that Saakashvili's oppressive government could not prevent. The government and the team that could not avoid the loss and occupation of our Georgian historic territories, of course, does not deserve not only to return to power but to stay in politics”, - said Irakli Gharibashvili.

According to Gharibashvili, this fact may be crucial in the October 2020 elections, like it was in 2012.
