Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri said that the rate of crime in the country would sometimes increase, sometimes decrease, and this is normal.  He commented on the scandal in Akhalkalaki with journalists.

The growth of crime in different directions, has increased in some places, decreased in some places, this is a normal issue. It happens every year. It will happen constantly, sometimes it will increase, sometimes it will decrease, this is a common topic, statistics, crime sometimes increases and sometimes decreases, - Vakhtang Gomelauri said.

According to statistics, more than 23,000 crimes were committed in the last five months alone, of which only 7,000 were solved. The opposition views this situation as the worst criminal situation.

The President of Georgia also commented on this issue by noting that this is a problem of the modern world and nothing happens in Georgia that would not happen in other countries. She said, that some TV channels want to make the criminal situation very grave, which is not true.
