On July 20, the US imposed sanctions against Kyrgyz companies for supplying critical technologies to Russia.
In 2022, Kyrgyzstan increased its exports to Russia by 250%. According to "Radio Liberty", along with the growth of exports, products appeared in the trade and customs documentation that Kyrgyzstan did not buy before.
According to the official data, the dual-use products, including those products that the European Union has included in a special 38-component list and that Russia has proven to use in military production, enter Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from Georgia. Out of 38 products, 11 were exported to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from Georgia in 2022-2023.
2 years ago, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were not included in the top ten trade partners of Georgia. As of July 2023, both countries were among the top 10 countries, ranking fourth and fifth. Only in the first half of 2023, the annual export from Georgia to Kyrgyzstan increased by 1360.1%
There is no direct evidence that sanctioned products are reaching Russia from Georgia. The government of Georgia claims that the borders of Georgia are strictly controlled and suspicious cargoes cannot pass customs control. At the same time, detailed foreign trade data show that these products, some of which were not exported from Georgia at all before the war, are now exported to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia in addition to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan - these are the countries that Russia is suspected of using as "black holes".
