August 7 was declared day of mourning in Georgia due to Shovi tragedy. The landslide in Shovi has killed 7 people. 210 people have been evacuated from the disaster area. Rescuers are searching for 30 people.

The army will be involved in the rescue operations in the Racha region. The emergency headquarters meeting reached the corresponding resolution. The defense forces will work with special equipment.

On August 3, a landslide hit the tourist resort of Racha. The mountain slope fell and the river overflowed as a result of excessive rain, resulting in uncontrolled processes. One of the main hotels and several cottages were destroyed. 

SAR activities are being carried out by two Mi-8 helicopters and 400 rescuers and volunteers.
