Three citizens of Georgia are still in captivity of occupiers. Zaza Gakheladze, who was first wounded and then kidnapped from the outskirts of Skhvilo fortress, is in a stable condition now, but according to his wife they are in a complete information vacuum and are waiting for the next meeting in Ergneti.
The trial of Khvicha Mgebrishvili is scheduled for August 20, and after all charges are dropped except for crossing the occupation line, the family hopes that he will be released.
Mgebrishvili's family confirms that the occupational regime has dropped the bat-related charges from the detainee and hopes that he will be tried only for crossing the border and will leave the prison after paying the fine. If Khvicha Mghebrishvili is not released, then the family will place all the responsibility on the government and start large-scale protest rallies.
The rallies are already inevitable, by the way the rallies will be very large, not in Mejvriskhevi only, everything will be blocked here. We will block the central highway, the western highway and then we will see what they will do, - says a cousin of Mgebrishvili.
According to the relatives, none of the state agencies has provided them with any information. Despite repeated requests, the Red Cross representatives were not allowed to meet with Gakheladze and Mgebrishvili.
David Katsarava, the founder of the "Strength is in Unity" anti-occupation movement, said that it would be difficult to free these people because the occupational regime accuses Gakheladze not only of crossing the so-called border, but of armed attack and he is facing up to 12 years imprisonment.
Another citizen of Georgia, Gennady Bestaev, remains in the captivity of the occupational regime. He is already "convicted" and has been serving a two-year "term" since November 2019.
