According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus, Valeri Kvaratskhelia, has been in Georgia since August 6, and due to the recent developments in Belarus, his immediate return to Minsk has become necessary.
“Due to the fact that air traffic with Belarus was limited and the ambassador needed to go to Minsk in the possible shortest time, it was decided to fly him over by the government plane.
The Republic of Belarus is a friendly country for Georgia, with which we have close cooperation both in bilateral format and within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative.
Accordingly, we are closely following the developments. "We are in close cooperation with our partners on this issue," reads the statement of the Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that it is necessary to solve problems in Belarus peacefully.
We remind you that on August 16th there was information that a special flight from Tbilisi took the President of Georgia to Minsk for an hour. The Presidential Administration informed "Mtavari Channel" that Zurabishvili hasn't even left Tbilisi these days.
According to Nika Gvaramia, former MP Valery Kvaratskhelia, a member of the Citizens' Union, has left Tbilisi for Minsk. It was also reported that Alexander Lukashenko's son was brought from Minsk to Tbilisi, but this information is not confirmed at this stage.
