Russian money in Georgian elections - opposition assesses the link of Alliance of Patriots and the Kremlin

The scandalous document published by the analytical portal Dossier Center confirms the existence of a link of  the Alliance of Patriots with Russia. The opposition believes that it is necessary for the Georgian Prosecutor's Office and the Audit Office to launch an investigation into the case.

Under our Criminal Code, it is a crime to obtain funding from another country. Under normal circumstances, of course, the government should conduct an investigation, but we understand that that party is a satellite of the Georgian Dream. The second context is also very dangerous. It is a concrete instrument of Russia's intervention in our elections. I rule out that the prosecutor's office will react, I'll tell you directly, but it will also be a kind of response that yes, the Georgian Dream is favouring towards Patriots', - says European Georgia member Elene Khoshtaria.

Salome Samadashvili, Deputy Chairperson of the United National Movement faction, believes that the Georgian Dream is not considering removing  the Alliance from the election list and that both political unions are a pro-Russian force.

Georgian Dream is not considering the removal of this party from the election process today, because its ally is the Alliance of Patriots. They are different branches of pro-Russian political forces in our country, - Samadashvili explained.

Recall that the Dossier Center received documents proving that the Alliance of Patriots is funded by Russia. Irma Inashvili, one of the leaders of the party, categorically denies the spread information and claims that the attack on the Patriots Alliance is ordered by the opposition politicians.
