Civil Platform 20/20 calls for a ban on political activities of the Alliance of Patriots

Civil Platform 20/20 calls for a ban on political activities of the Alliance of Patriots. The NGO believes that 30 MPs, especially the pro-Western opposition, should take the initiative and apply to the Constitutional Court with an official application for the ban.

According to the Civil Platform, this initiative is based on the funding that the Alliance of Patriots receives from the occupying Russia. The third sector assesses such actions as open violation of the law and contrary to the interests of the state.

The information about the alleged funding of the "Alliance of Patriots" from the Kremlin became known a few days ago. As soon as that fact was established, the European Georgia Party demanded an investigation from the prosecutor's office. Other opposition members soon became interested in investigating the case and ousting the Alliance of Patriots from politics.

Georgi Rurua, one of the founders of the Mtavari channel and a political prisoner, also demanded that the Alliance of Patriots be removed from the 2020 elections.

Recall that the "Dossier Center" founded by Mikhail Khadarkovsky has  published an extensive investigation. The documents show that the Alliance of Patriots is helped by political technologists close to the Kremlin. The Kremlin also spends money that the party uses for its election campaign in Georgia. Documents obtained by the Dossier Center show that the Patriots plan to spend $8.5 million on an election campaign over a four-month period.
