Member of the District Commission of the United National Movement detained in Batumi

A member of the district commission of the United National Movement David Gegiadze has been detained in Batumi.
According to the Interior Ministry, he was detained under Article 126 of the Criminal Code, which implies violence. The case concerns an incident that took place in Batumi Republican Hospital late in the evening of September 21.

According to the medical staff and the detainee's lawyer, there was a verbal confrontation that did not escalate into a physical confrontation.

According to the lawyer Badri Beridze, his client came to the hospital to visit a relative and wanted to clarify some procedures during which he and one of the doctors had a quarrel. The medical staff allegedly called the law enforcement officers on the spot. David Gegeiadze was detained on the spot. Investigative actions are ongoing.
