Nino Lomjaria demands investigation of all pre-election crimes

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria demands investigation of all crimes related to the pre-election period.

In addition, the Public Defender spoke about the facts of threats and inhuman treatment in Gldani prison. She has appealed to the State Inspector's Office, though the prison administration has so far denied the allegations.

Representatives of a particular opposition party have contacted us and said they were being blackmailed and threatened. We have provided all this information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and we are ready, if they wish, to assist and ensure the effectiveness of the investigation. Such facts are alarming and I hope all the victims will definitely apply to the investigation,- Lomjaria said.

Recall that with the elections approaching,  the facts of violence against opponents of the government are gradually increasing. Among them was Lasha Tsutskiridze, a member of the United National Movement, who was attacked and physically assaulted by masked men on September 18. Late at night on September 17, the election headquarters of Levan Khabeishvili, the majoritarian MP candidate of the United National Movement, were raided. On September 16, in Dmanisi,  the Mtavari  Channel journalist was threatened with wounding. On September 15, in Dmanisi, supporters of MP Kakha Okriashvili were attacked.
