I call on the police to stop and not use disproportionate force against protesters - Public Defender

Published:

The Public Defender  has responded to the use of water cannons and tear  gas  by police against peaceful demonstrators in an attempt to disperse the rally. Nino Lomjaria says no one has warned the protesters, which is illegal:

Extremely sad events unfolded with the Central Election Commission. The use of force against protesters in a situation where there was no loud warning to protesters is a violation of the law! The police also have no right to use force even after the warning, when the action does not go beyond the legal frames. I urge the police to stop and not to use excessive force against protesters! - says Lomjaria.

To remind, police  has used   water cannon  without any warning to disperse protesters as soon as  they started appearing at the CEC building.
