The leader of the United National Movement, Grigol Vashadze, issued a second statement to clarify his first statement that was misinterpreted and perceived as an appeal to stop citizens’ protest. He underlined that the citizens' protest should continue.
“I will further explain:
1. Citizens' protests must continue;
2. A political component should be urgently added to this protest - through the mediation of strategic allies in the form of negotiations on the implementation of the principles of fair elections;
3. Until / if the negotiations are not successfully completed, we will neither participate in the second round nor enter the Parliament;
4. Once and for all we must all work hard so that in the future street protests do not replace the normal process due to election fraud.
