IRI calls on the Georgian government to investigate allegations of election campaign irregularities

We call on the Government of Georgia to investigate and thoroughly scrutinize allegations of election campaign irregularities - the International Republican Institute demands a timely response from the Dream authorities after election fraud.

The International Republican Institute states in its report on parliamentary elections that the CEC and the judiciary have a special responsibility to investigate the violations.

The opposition believes that under conditions when the court in the country is fully controlled by the oligarch, neither opponents of the authorities nor international observation missions should expect an objective investigation.

"In our country there is no independent court and what does not exist, can not make any decisions, it is a sad reality of the situation in our state, as a result of many years of conscious attempts to overthrow all institutions in the country, and today, virtually no state institution, with the exception of the Public Defender, has any public trust -," said Salome Samadashvili,a member of the UNM political council.

David Bakradze, Chairman of the European Georgia, says the tone of the country's partners is becoming more and more critical.

According to Zurab Japaridze, one of the leaders of "Girchi", it is quite a harsh assessment, which is similar to the assessment of political parties that these elections do not express the will of the Georgian people.

Nino Burjanadze, chairwoman of United Georgia, said there was direct indication about the distrust towards the court.

Recall that according to the CEC, the second rounds will be held across the country, on November 21, in 17 majoritarian constituencies, the opposition is not participating in it and is boycotting the process.
