Thea Tsulukiani, chairwoman of the parliament's Education, Science and Culture committee, says it is false that the ruling team drafted the bill on stopping the funding to the opposition because of the boycott.
"There is a deliberate confusion as if we are passing this law because of the political boycott. There are also forces who claim that Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze had delivered lectures, and then compiled a book based on these lectures. I have attended Mr. Irakli's lectures and it was really interesting He has not only compiled the books, but he had also written and many. The attempt is to say that this bill is adopted because of the boycott which is another lie," said Thea Tsulukiani.
According to her, these are people who have betrayed their voters. And it should be determined whether they really are "boycotting politicians" or "street saboteurs."
"Whether we like it or not, the National Movement and its various divisions, be it European Georgia, Girchi-Mirchi, I still do not know what they are called, Aghmashenebeli - all these divisions, they have voters, and they are many, they have betrayed their voters, " Thea Tsulukiani said.
According to Tsulukiani, these parties are deprived of money for those mandates, which they have not taken over.
MP Irakli Kobakhidze stated in his book back in 2008 that stopping the state funding of the parties due to boycott is wrong. The book is based on lectures given by Irakli Kobakhidze on the law.
Recall that on December 17, Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement regarding the new bill and said , the restrictions stipulated in the draft law will apply to parties as follows:
State funding will be stopped or be suspended for one year for the party whose members suspend their parliamentary mandates
The same parties will not be able to enjoy free airtime for municipal and parliamentary elections.
