The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, awarded the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, with the highest award of France, the Order of the Knight of the Legion of Honor. This is stated in the official statement of France issued on the first of January 2021.
The statement says that Ivanishvili is a former prime minister and the founder of the International Charitable Foundation. According to the decree published on the official website of the French government, "This year the award was given to people who have made a significant contribution to the fight against corona virus."
According to information circulated by Georgian Dream, French philanthropist François Pinault congratulates Bidzina Ivanishvili on being awarded the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor.
"I am pleased to inform you that you have been awarded the title of Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor, which I am sincerely pleased about and wish you all the best. "I wish you a Happy New Year . I want to assure you of my sincerity toward you," the congratulatory message reads.
The Order of the Legion of Honor (Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur) is the highest award in France. Russian President Vladimir Putin, the First Lady of Azerbaijan and others received it at different times.
