State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Thea Akhvlediani says the Georgian side has repeatedly stated its readiness to assist in putting out fires in the occupied territories, including with the help of a helicopter. According to her, the government is still ready to help the people living in Abkhazia.

"Since the morning of January 5, we have run a hotline several times to demonstrate our readiness to extinguish fires in the occupied Gali district. We are using all the channels and mechanisms at our disposal with the de facto government. We are in constant and intensive communication and are ready to engage in this process as soon as we get a concrete response," said the State Minister.

According to the minister, as soon as the fires broke out, the de facto government was informed that the Georgian side offered to help with the liquidation process.

The minister expressed the government's concern about the recent fires in Abkhazia, which caused serious damage to the population.

They are extinguishing fires in occupied Gagra. It is impossible to localize  fires in the forest. The fire is only 150 meters away from populated areas - there is a danger of buildings catching fire. Local residents, who may face a humanitarian crisis, are waiting for help.
