For fear of US Sanctions protects his property under charity - Opposition on Ivanishvili

Published:

According to politicians, Bidzina Ivanishvili's departure from politics and the formal transfer of property to the Cartu fund may be due to fears of US sanctions.

According to Salome Samadashvili, Bidzina Ivanishvili had ties with the Trump administration, and Prime Minister Bakhtadze also met with Trump's son-in-law in Brussels.

"Bidzina Ivanishvili had informal contacts with the Trump administration. We also know that Prime Minister Bakhtadze was invited to the US Embassy in Brussels a few years ago to have a special meeting with Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law. Of course, Bidzina Ivanishvili tried to have his influence on the Trump administration. If the Ivanishvili administration continues its policy of political repression and the suppression of democracy  from even more informal positions, the new US administration will have a very strong reaction, which is why he has decided to protect his  property under the guise of charity from potential sanctions," Salome Samadashvili, a UNM member

According to experts, Ivanishvili's companies could be in danger, so he re-registered the property.

"If the intermediary companies are somehow related to Ivanishvili and his companies, it will certainly be investigated and it will not escape the relevant US services. Therefore, if he is somehow related, he will certainly have a fear that sanctions will  affect him and his companies. Maybe this is the reason for re-registration of this property", - says Sergo Chikhladze, a member of "Strategy Builder"

The US imposes sanctions on the Ukrainian organizations - former prosecutor Konstantin Kulik is also sanctioned

It is not ruled out that the American sanctions will affect Bidzina Ivanishvili as well.
