The part of the interview with Public TV in which Bidzina Ivanishvili recognized David Khidasheli, who brought David Gareji's cards to Georgia, as a hero, is seen by the opposition as a direct message to the prosecutor's office and the court.
It is possible that the prosecutor's office and the law have already received instructions to punish the detained cartographers Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilichova - it is proved by the fact that Giorgi Manjgaladze, former head of the Delimitation Commission has been recalled to the prosecutor's office.
"Ivanishvili's confession confirms the Kremlin's line, because David Khidasheli is a Kremlin project," Elene Khoshtaria said.
In his interview to Public Broadcaster Ivanishvili in fact, confirmed that the so-called key figure in the cartographers` case is a billionaire, who gives informal political orders to prosecutor`s office and sacrifices for his narrow political goals the career and even life of the two scientists.
At the same time the opposition does not rule out that the Prosecutor's Office may bring charges against the third President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in Davitgareji case.
Just to remind, members of the Border Demarcation Commission with Azerbaijan Iveri Melashvili and Natalya Ilyicheva were detained on October 7. The court sentenced them both to pre-trial detention on October 8.
The prosecutor's office accuses them of working with maps against Georgia's territorial interests during their work in the demarcation commission.
According to the investigating agency "forensic examination showed that during the delimitation the defendants were guided by the boundary lines drawn on maps dating back to 1970-80s which was noted as fundamentally contradicting to the historical border of our country, including Davitgareji".
The detainees are under investigation under Article 308 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for 10 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Iveri Melashvili gave an emotional speech at the trial, confirming his innocence saying that he had never worked against the interests of the country and Natalia Illichova said that according to the maps they are accused of, a part of Davitgareji is lost and crosses the border with Azerbaijan
