The report clearly points to serious failures-the Brussels-based report explains that the lack of an independent and fair judicial system remains a serious problem for Georgia.
While Dream traditionally sees only positives in the report, the opposition is paying close attention to the messages from European partners.
"It is hard to disagree with the report in a country where the court is run by the Murusidze-Chinchaladze clan. This is well known, and this conclusion suggests that this is the main problem. The second problem is the problem of political polarization. I hope this conclusion will be the basis for the Dream to hear something," - said Giorgi Khvedeliani, member of the United National Movement.
Opponents of the authorities say it's important to reach a compromise between the opposing sides. Grigol Gegelia, a member of the political council of the "Lelo for Georgia" party, says the EU report still points to the main unresolved issues.
"While the government expresses pretentious ambitions for EU integration in its fantasies, the EU still points to unresolved issues - democracy, the rule of law and an independent judiciary," - said Gegelia.
For reference, the report covers the implementation of reforms stipulated in the EU-Georgia Association Agreement over the last year. The annual report says that the challenge for Georgia is judicial reform and the problem of political polarization.
