"Let's sit down at the negotiation table with the facilitator ambassadors and discuss the issue of holding new elections," UNM leader Nika Melia said after the Interior Ministry issued a statement saying that measures related to Nika Melia's arrest had been postponed.
"I want to call on everyone to calm down, thank you all for your support. From the very first day, we, the opposition in general, have been saying that the rule of law is paramount for us, that it is critical to obtain the right to a fair election, We set a goal and participated in the elections, but unfortunately, the government rigged the elections and the change of government, which was the will of the people, could not be implemented.
I want to make a statement on behalf of the opposition parties, let's sit down at the negotiation table with the representatives of this regime, with the participation of the facilitators, and discuss the issue of holding new elections," Nika Melia said.
"Violence has never been the goal of opposition parties," he said.
Recall, during the night of February 17-18, there was a special mobilization in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and in the morning at the UNM office, where Nika Melia, leaders of opposition parties and citizens were present throughout the night, allegedly criminal police officers arrived, who said that after the court ruling, they had come "to take appropriate measures". They tried to enter the office but were unable to do so and left the area.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs then issued a statement stating that any fact of violence that would impede the execution of the court decision would be prevented.
This was followed by a statement from the US Embassy, calling on the parties to remain calm, followed by the resignation of the Prime Minister and then the postponement of the arrest of Nika Melia by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
