Kobakhidze: "Gakharia had a different position [on Melia], we have not heard the arguments"

Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the "Dream" party, responds to the resignation of Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at a special briefing.

"It is unfortunate that he made such a decision. There was a discussion in the team about the execution of the court ruling on Nikanor Melia. Giorgi Gakharia had a different position from the other members of the team. We have not heardd any arguments to support his position," Kobakhidze said.

In his view, the non-enforcement of the law would contribute to polarization.; whereas, Giorgi Gakharia argues that the arrest of Nika Melia will deepen the political crisis.

"Now the focus of our political team will be entirely on the formation of a new political team. We call on Nikanor Melia to obey the law, otherwise, the authorities will ensure his arrest."

Irakli Kobakhidze says that "the formation of the government will start and end in the shortest possible time provided by law."

"It is expected that the political council will convene tomorrow and a candidate for prime minister will be nominated," Kobakhidze said.
