Annexation Diary, 21.02.1921 - Zhordania to Chicherin: "What do you want from us?"

As part of Occupation Week, from February 21"Mtavari Channel" will offer you a daily annexation diary,  reviving the days of Russian aggression that took place a hundred years ago.

The stories  are based on the articles of the newspaper "Ertoba" published during the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921), as well as, the content and quotations of the correspondence published in the press at different times, which were sent in the form of telegrams between the Georgian government and the representatives of Bolshevik Russia. Among them is the content of correspondence between ethnically Georgian Kremlin officials.

On February 21, 1921 fierce fighting was taking place in the outskirts of Tbilisi. According to the newspaper "Ertoba", on February 20-21, there were two attacks on Kojori, which was associated with the involvement of additional rescue forces from the enemy's side.

"Both times the enemy units approached our trenches. We repulsed the first enemy attack with hand grenades and the second attack with bayonets.
Despite the extreme fatigue of our troops, due to fierce fighting during the night, our troops twice counterattacked and courageously repulsed the enemy.
Subsequently, any attempt of the enemy to attack was repulsed by shooting.
At 8 o'clock in the morning of February 21, after the offensive of our troops, the enemy began to retreat.
During the night battle we took prisoners, including the political commander.
In the western part of Soghanlugh, our detachment seized an enemy grenade box.
In the direction of the Black Sea coast, on 20 February there was an enemy attack from Adler. The French squadron helps us in the defense of the territory, shooting at the wing of the Bolshevik troops from cannons.
There were no changes in other directions ",

Zhordania-Cicherin: "What do you want from us? Inform us of the purposes for which you started the war against us. Perhaps we can negotiate without bloodshed.
The telegram sent to the Russian Foreign Minister went unanswered.
