Public Defender Nino Lomjaria responds to the current political events in the country and the arrest of Nika Melia, the chairman of the National Movement.
"Nothing more shameful could have happened on February 23, 100 years after the loss of Georgia's independence and the sovietization than the raiding of the opposition party office and the arrest of an opposition leader, which will inevitably lead to Georgia' s alienation from the Western world as it was with Soviet Georgia. The government, blinded by hatred towards its own citizens, thinks that demonstration of force is a success, while not a single vaccine has been imported into the country, prices are rising and people are on the verge of starvation," Nino Lomjaria wrote.
Recall that the riot police arrested Nika Melia using force in the UNM office.
