Authorities are to find legal instruments and release Melia - Kvirikashvili

The former Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, published a Facebook post regarding the situation in the country.

"Given the current situation in the country, the government has a difficult option: either to find the legal tools and release Nick Melia from prison as soon as possible, and then take effective steps and find a solution that will not allow the country to enter a difficult spiral of confrontation; or the alternative to the above would undoubtedly be a significant setback and deviation from the trajectory that the majority of our country, Georgia, has chosen , that is to take its rightful place in the family of democratic Western countries.
P.S. For those who want speculative interpretations, let me clarify:
- The national movement with its values and leadership style is completely unacceptable to me;
- I do not approve the attack of a group of protesters on the police cordon on June 20, 2019, but I am in full solidarity with the protest that followed the  presence  of  Gavrilov in Parliament, and, of course, still condemn the use of excessive force as a result of which, young people lost their eyes and were seriously injured," - wrote George Kvirikashvili.

Recall that riot police stormed the office of the National Movement, broke down the doors and forcibly detained Nika Melia. The riot police used pepper spray, which resulted in the injuring of citizens in the office.
