According to Giorgi Khelashvili, first Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, the political crisis in the country was caused not by the government's actions, but by the irresponsible behavior of the opposition. According to him, the arrest of the Chairman of the National Movement Niki Melia was not a turning point at all.

"The positions of both sides were presented here, and I talked about how the government sees this situation, what the responsibility of the opposition is in the current situation. So the answer to these accusations was that Melia was not the main watershed that created the crisis in Georgia. The crisis was created by the irresponsible behavior of the opposition, which was related to allegations of election fraud," said Giorgi Khelashvili.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, presented a 6-point plan and gave the government and the opposition two weeks to make progress.
