The 6th session of the Georgia-EU Association starts in Brussels at the moment. MEPs made comments to the media before the sitting.
As Petras Austrevichus, a Lithuanian MEP, said, he hoped that today's meetings in Brussels would convince Prime Minister Gharibashvili that he had a time limit and that MEPs were waiting for a realistic plan.
"We are constantly hearing about the talks, there was a mediation attempt by Mr. Danielson, I know he is still in Tbilisi and I hope it will bring results, but so far we have not seen any commitment from the ruling team. I think the initiative should be shown by the ruling party. I expect that today's meetings in Brussels will convince Prime Minister Gharibashvili that he has a certain time limit and we are waiting for a real plan.
Sometimes I think we do not properly appreciate the agreements called the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and the Association Agreement. These agreements are a road map, I will say that nothing will happen if these agreements are not fulfilled. They are really comprehensive and are agreed-upon documents. Georgia has expressed its will to become a member of the European family, so the Association Agreement is essential. You can not jump over this stage and apply for membership," said Petras Austrevicius, MEP.
