According to Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, being a politician is not a reason for being released from prison. As Gharibashvili said after the 6th regular meeting of the Georgia-EU Association Council in Brussels, the decision to release political prisoners "is not up to him."
As for the issue of releasing prisoners who are politicians. Politics is not a reason to release anyone. If someone has committed a crime, he must be punished. So it's not up to me to decide when and how the court will release someone. It is the rule of law, the decision of the court to release someone, - said Gharibashvili.
Yesterday morning, March 15, Garibashvili flew to Brussels with a government delegation. The prime minister was supposed to arrive with a concrete result of the talks with Michel, but the agreement between the opposition and the government has not yet been reached. The visit of the Georgian delegation to Brussels will last until March 17.
