Detention of Gogi Tsulaia - political revenge or alleged violence

Published:

Gogi Tsulaia is accused of violence against a woman. The politician has been arrested and the main evidence of the police against him is the testimony of a young woman who speaks about the violence perpetrated by Tsulaia. The sentence, which threatens a politician who is  particularly  critical of the government if convicted, is  maximum one year in prison.

However, in parallel with Tsulaia's arrest, a version emerged that this might be revenge against him. Civil society activists and members of the opposition recall the recent incident when, after the publication of Bera Ivanishvili's scandalous recording and Bera's own statements, Tsulaia staged a performance containing the cursing of Bera on television.
