According to the Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze, "the opposition was not ready for an agreement" - he said this after the bilateral meeting between the opposition and the ruling team through the mediation of Christian Danielson at the EU Embassy.
"Today it was possible to reach an agreement on important issues for the state, the Georgian Dream was ready for these steps, but the opposition was not ready for an agreement and they gave priority to matters of their party interest. I think the positions are really close, in the future if the opposition has a pragmatic attitude to the issues, we will be able to agree on that. The opposition has an attitude that they will not recognize the election results until they win the elections," Talakvadze said.
Christian Danielson arrived in Georgia on March 12. His visit was due to end on March 14, however, after unsuccessful negotiations, he extended his stay in the country and said he would not leave the country until an agreement was reached between the opposition and the government. During the visit, he has repeatedly met with representatives of both the government and the opposition. The decision to send Danielson to Georgia was made by Charles Michel on March 8.
