The U.S. Senate will discuss the political crisis in Georgia on March 23. An assistant undersecretary of state will answer senators' questions. Georgia's fourth president responded to the planned discussion on Twitter:
"Awaiting for Senate Subcommittee hearing on Georgia. 3 years ago I appealed to Congress to pass The Georgia Support Act and our good friends made it a bill. It starts with a call to protect and strengthen democracy. We need US active engagement to stop backslide of democracy NOW", " - Giorgi Margvelashvili writes.
For reference, the debate on the current political processes in Georgia in the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee scheduled for March 23was initiated by Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
