US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan met with Public Defender Nino Lomjaria and expressed support for her work.
"The Public Defender’s Office is an essential independent institution for protecting human rights and democratic development in Georgia. We are concerned about politicized attacks on the Public Defender’s Office, which damage this important institution and undermine its effectiveness" - the embassy said in a statement.
The Ambassador called on the Parliament to engage constructively with the Public Defender’s Office and support its role in protecting the rights of all the people of Georgia.
