Theft, bribery, forgery and use of forged documents unproven - TI report on Nika Gvaramia's Case

Transparency International Georgia publishes an assessment of the criminal case against Mtavari Channel CEO Nika Gvaramia.

"The indictment of Nika Gvaramia is related to the decisions of the General Director of Rustavi 2 Broadcasting Company. As a result of studying the case materials, as well as taking into account the Georgian legislation, case law, legal doctrine and evidence in the case, the facts of embezzlement, commercial bribery, production and use of a forged official document by Nika Gvaramia are not confirmed," - the organization wrote.

According to them, the charge of money laundering brought against Nika Gvaramia does not meet the criteria of money laundering according to the Criminal Code and its conditional content TI writes that a proper assessment of the circumstances surrounding Gvaramia's accusation is important both for ensuring the rights and freedoms of individuals and for further development of case law. The organization hopes that the court will make a lawful and reasoned decision.
