Judge Maia Svianadze, who received a  lifetime appointment went on vacation to  the United States and stayed there, does not respond to “Mtavari”, but has explained to “Palitranews” that she had made the decision to resign before her vacation, and that her colleagues knew about it.

According to Maia Svianadze, before she went on vacation, she handed over her affairs to other colleagues.

"I was on vacation and I wrote a further statement on the termination of my authority. I had decided to terminate my authority after the vacation. Of course, they knew, I would not drop the cases without a notice. Of course I had to hand over the cases. I went on vacation, but I left everything in order so that no problems would arise later.
I did not stay in America illegally because my son has been living here for 16 years, working for the New York Police Department. I went to live with my son. I have a family here, a son and two grandchildren, at this stage I decided to move here " – says she.

Yesterday, April 6, Nazi Janezashvili, a member of the High Council of Justice, wrote on Facebook that one of the current judges had taken a leave, went to the United States and stayed there.

A statement on the matter was later issued by the Council of Justice. The statement said that Maia Svianadze was dismissed from the position of a judge on April 5, 2021 on the basis of a personal statement.
