The oligarch's new political project and another attack on the media. Newcomer oppositionist Giorgi Gakharia accuses journalists of ignoring information. Gakharia, who left the post of Prime Minister on the grounds of internal controversy, is upset that news outlets have devoted less time to the IRI survey, in which Gakharia has the highest rating among politicians.
But the former prime minister sees reality only in terms of his interests. A document released by the IRI yesterday explicitly states that the survey was conducted in February and that this data does not show Gakharia’s rating as an opposition figure. Giorgi Gakharia resigned on February 18.
According to a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), the most acceptable public figure for respondents is Ilia II of Georgia (89%). He is followed by:
• Giorgi Gakharia – 65%
• Kakha Kaladze – 54%
• Davit Bakradze – 52%
• Nika Melia – 42%
• Bidzina Ivanishvili – 40%
The survey was conducted from February 2-26, 2021. The sample included 1,500 respondents with voting rights and age. Data were weighted by age, gender, region and settlement size. The margin of error is +/- 2.5 percent, the response rate is 75%.
