The trial of "United National Movement" chairman Nika Melia has been postponed. The trial will be held on April 13 at 11:00 p.m.
Judge Nino Chakhnashvili has satisfied the defense's request for Nika Melia's presence at the trial. As you know, Nika Melia was expelled from the previous hearing and therefore he was not allowed to attend the hearings.
The judge did not announce a break for bringing Melia from the Rustavi prison to the court, so the trial was postponed.
On February 17, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Nika Melia to imprisonment as a measure of restraint. The case was heard by judge Nino Chakhnashvili. Opposition leaders gathered at the UNM headquarters to defend Nika Melia.
The next morning Giorgi Gakharia stepped down from his post of Prime Minister. He linked his resignation to Nika Melia's case and said there was a "disagreement" in the team about it. After Gakharia's resignation, the Interior Ministry "temporarily" postponed Melia's detention.
After Irakli Garibashvili was appointed to replace Gakharia, the Dream government stormed the UNM office and arrested Nika Melia.
