Today, Ukraine needs Georgian people’s support – the “United National Movement” expresses its full support and solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and issues a special statement:
“The Russian Federation continues to militarize the occupied Crimea and eastern Ukraine and escalate the situation further. Putin's rule completely ignores the norms of international law and continues to pursue aggressive policies in the region.
The United States, European countries, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union, and Western institutions have strongly condemned Russia's actions. They expressed support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and imposed full responsibility for the occupation and ongoing escalation of Ukrainian territories on the Russian Federation.
The international community has imposed large-scale sanctions on Russia in response to gross violations of international law.
Unfortunately, the Georgian government is still inactive. In this difficult situation for Ukraine, the Georgian government is acting irresponsibly and unfriendly. Relations between our countries, instead of maximum solidarity and coordination, are at a low level that has never been before. The Georgian ambassador to Ukraine has been summoned for consultations for more than a year due to internal political reasons.
Active support of Ukraine, as our friend and strategic partner country, is not only our moral obligation, but also the state interest of Georgia. Today, solidarity with Ukraine also means protecting Georgia's sovereignty. As a result of Russia's aggressive policy, both countries are facing a common challenge - Annexation, occupied territories, ethnic cleansing and increasing militarization. Overcoming this requires decisive joint efforts, joint diplomatic activities and supportive actions. Instead, the Georgian government has chosen the path of restraining and minimizing the importance of the issue.
We remember the unconditional support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people during the most difficult times for Georgia - During the military operations carried out by the Russian Federation against Georgia, both in terms of military and diplomatic assistance.
We will never forget the visit of the President of Ukraine to Tbilisi, when Russian military aircraft were still flying over Georgia," the UNM said in a statement.
