Civil activists, politicians and supporters of Nika Melia, the Chairman of the United National Movement, are gathering at the Tbilisi City Court at the moment. Melia's trial is set to begin at 11 a.m. and it will be announced today whether he will be released.

According to Tamar Kordzaia, a member of the “Republican Party”, any decision made by Judge Nini Chakhnashvili will be political.

"If there was justice in this country, Nika Melia wouldn’t sit on the bench right now and he would’ve not been in this court at all. "If there is justice in this country, Nika Melia should not sit on the bench now and should not be in this court at all. Our main expectation is that the government will only do what is pragmatic for it anyway. It does so for political purposes. Any decision made today in this court will not be a court decision, it will be a political decision determined by the Georgian Dream," Tamar Kordzaia said.
