"The defense has not taken any step" - Prosecutor on Nika Melia's case

    According to Amiran Guluashvili, the Prosecutor in the case of Nika Melia, the Chairman of the United National Movement, if the defense had agreed to pay the bail, the prosecution would have filed a suitable motion.

    "The judge reconsidered the issue of leaving the detention measure in force on her own initiative. After the court hearing, the defence claimed that the prosecution changed its position on the bail. Until this trial, the defense has made no attempt to clarify the prosecution's proposal and begin a dialogue about changing custody to bail. We have made a suggestion that if the defense agreed to abide by the bail conditions, the prosecution would petition the court for a change of custody" said Prosecutor Amiran Guluashvili.
