23 opposition parties issue a statement on the alleged selective justice against Tsulaia

23 Opposition parties have issued a statement on the use of selective justice  and political retaliation in the case of politician Gogi Tsulaia. The statement said that they take the issue of violence against women seriously and do not automatically question the charges against them, although they say that the court never uses detention as a preventive measure on similar charges.
As stated in the statement, this points to  selective law and political motives.
In the statement, the opposition parties also talk about the period preceding the arrest of Gogi Tsulayia. In particular, after the story aired on TV Pirveli, as a sign of solidarity, Tsulaia publicly cursed Bidzina Ivanishvili's son, Bera Ivanishvili.

"More than a month has passed since the public listened to the recordings of Irakli Gharibashvili, Bera Ivanishvili and Anzor Chubinidze. It was outrageous to hear how Ivanishvili's entourage threatened, humiliated and pressured people, including minors, only for writing a critical post about Bera on Facebook. All this was done with the participation and instruction of Ivanishvili's son and the highest officials of the Georgian state.
Bera Ivanishvili publicly confirmed what the citizens learned from the recordings published by TV Pirveli. Many other similar allegations have been made public. The prosecutor's office was not interested in all this, they did not interrogate anyone and did not try to find out anything but one thing - they were trying to obtain confidential material from TV Pirveli and understand the first source of the recording.
This indicates that the entire government vertical is the punishing group of the Ivanishvili family. The release of these recordings was followed by the arrest of Gogi Tsulaia, who, after the release of the recordings, publicly expressed solidarity with those who had been punished for criticizing Bera.
We take any allegations of violence against women very seriously. By this statement we are not going to automatically question the allegations made by the applicant, but the fact that pre-trial detention was ordered for Gogi Tsulaia at the request of the prosecutor's office and with the approval of an obedient court, whereas this type of measure of restraint is virtually never used in relation to similar charges, undoubtedly indicates selective law and political motives of the government.
All this proves once again how dangerous the government of the Georgian Dream is for every citizen of Georgia, because it serves the personal interests of the oligarch's family and is ready to become a tool of revenge in the hands of these family members," the statement reads.
