"We do not know the details of this agreement yet, however, the idea is interesting. Now the main step should be taken by the government to take a position on this issue," said Akaki Minashvili, a member of the United National Movement in response to the statement of Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of Lelo, according to which European parliamentarians are ready to provide surety for Nika Melia.
According to Minashvili, bail and amnesty are still categorically unacceptable for Nika Melia.
According to Giga Bokeria, the leader of European Georgia, this decision confirmed that the Western partners could not take full advantage of the opportunities.
"It was not a surprise and a good initiative, but unfortunately it proves once again that there was a way to gain important positions for the country in the agreement on these and other important issues, be it a topic of political prisoners, ways of release or early elections. Unfortunately, our Western partners did not take full advantage of these opportunities" said Giga Bokeria.
