UNM Chairman Nika Melia releases another letter from Rustavi prison. Nika Melia asks the opposition and appeals to the Georgian Dream to revoke the amnesty and in this case takes full responsibility to agree to the bail offered by the European Union:
I would like to address my friends from the opposition who have signed the Charles Michel document.
From cell 224 of the Rustavi prison, I beseech you not to take part in any shameful attempt to rewrite history, which is called Gavrilov's June 20 night amnesty.
Neither I nor anyone else deserves to give even a minimal chance to the criminal police officers and organizers of the disgraceful anti-occupation action to avoid a fair trial.
Clearly, the Georgian Dream will extend this amnesty to anything and everything, and even if you don't vote for it (which I don't doubt), you will still be discredited in the process. They will damage you, they will damage the unity of the opposition, they will damage the country. Unfortunately, in the eyes of the Georgian people the reputation of the mediators and our main friends behind them will be significantly undermined.
I repeat, the most important thing now is opposition unity. Under no circumstances should it be allowed to disintegrate. Neither side should allow that. Therefore I ask everyone to refrain from actions which may inflict irreparable damage on this unity. We must remember that unity is our only advantage over the Georgian Dream.
Therefore, I ask you and I address the Georgian Dream, who signed the document:Revoke the amnesty and remove it from the agenda once and for all. If it is impossible to apply amnesty only to the so-called Gavrilov Protestants, then there will be no amnesty at all. Withdraw the amnesty, and in this case, I, Nika Melia, take full responsibility, agree to the bail offered by the European Union and leave the prison on this condition - says Nika Melia in the appeal
