"The chair is not an end in itself" - Talakvadze's first statement after his resignation

The process is returning to normal - Archil Talakvadze's first statement after his resignation.

The still-incumbent Speaker of Parliament names the same reason for leaving the post as he said in his first statement when he announced his departure that his seat is in the hall.

In addition, Talakvadze says that the crisis has been overcome and "the chair is not the end goal of any leader in the Georgian Dream team":

I have said many times that as soon as all this was agreed upon, I thought it would be necessary for me to leave. Now I think that there is a competitive opposition in the parliament. My place is in the hall with my colleagues and not in the position of a speaker Talakvadze said.

According to him, it is necessary to "show this opposition what real democracy means." Talakvadze believes that the country "has a representative parliament and it is better for the parliament to be led by a person who was not a direct party in these negotiations" Talakvadze said.
