"Nika Melia is not a signatory, he is not endowed with the right to dictate the terms of this agreement". This is the assessment of the resigned Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze about yesterday's statement by Nika Melia, according to which the chairman of the "National Movement" is ready to agree to the EU bail, if the parliament does not issue an amnesty on June 20.
According to Talakvadze, the bail will only release Melia from pre-trial detention.
"As for Melia's attitude, I think elementary legal education is needed. These were more speculative comments than lawyers' comments. However, lawyers from the opposition also made these comments. Do not mislead the public. Nika Melia will pay the bail. He will leave the pre-trial detention facility and take part in the political process, but that does not mean that Nika Melia will be released. That decision should be made by the court" Talakvadze said.
