5 articles may be added to the investigation, or none - Gomelauri on the attack in Gareja

The Minister of the Internal affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, made the first comment on the attack  in Gareji on “Mtavari Channels” filming crew and Iver Melashvili, accused in the cartography case. He condemned all forms of violence, but said that it was a prosecution’s prerogative to reclassify the investigation's article.

According to Gomelauri, 5 articles or none may be added to the investigation.

"The prosecutor's office has to discuss the reclassification. We started the investigation of what happened yesterday.  I can say that all kinds of violence are unacceptable, it does not matter, first of all, against the journalists, as well as the citizens. Based on the investigation, whatever is determined they will be punished in accordance with the law. 
I am not an investigator, I am the Minister of Internal Affairs, what I was told, they have started an investigation, based on the fact, they will see the footage, they will observe, therefore, 5 articles could be added, or none." said Vakhtang Gomelauri.

We would like to remind you that on May 4, the film crew of the "Mtavari Channel" together with Iveri Melashvili arrived in Davit Gareja to shoot a report for "Saturday's Mtavari", during which they were attacked by clerics.

The investigation was launched with the qualification of violence, although it is unknown why the agency has not launched  an investigation into the obstruction of journalistic activities.
