"I have no right to stop the process and I don't intend to" -Kuchava's response to the ambassadors.

Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava responds to ambassadors from Georgia, the United States and the European Union. He says he has no right to suspend the appointment process in court.

"The expectations that exist for the Conference of Judges - this is a completely independent process, and regrettably or fortunately, the Parliament of Georgia cannot interfere in this process. As a speaker, I have neither the right to stop the process within my authority, nor am I going to do so, because I am obliged to be guided by the Constitution and legislation of Georgia" Kakha Kuchava said.

Kelly Degnan and Carl Hartzell sent a special letter to Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava on May 22. They warned the ruling team not to carry out the procedures for appointing judges to the High Council of Justice without electoral reform.
