"They fail to train the Witnesses well in giving false testimony" | Nika Melia's yet another trial is over

The next court session on the case of Nika Melia, the chairman of the United National Movement, was held at the Tbilisi City Court. A prosecution witness who was present at the scene during the June 20 events was questioned at the trial today.

According to the defense, the policeman gave a false testimony because it is impossible for him to understand Nika Melia's words during the rally, from a distance of 5 meters.

"Somewhat ridiculous is the prosecution in this trial, it seems they are not able to train the witnesses well in giving false testimony in advance, so they ask questions in court, voice their preferred position and answer the questions, the policeman, who was in specialised equipment, he has not seen Melia closer than a distance of 5 meters, there were a lot of people at the rally, lots of noise, and it turns out that this policeman, in conditions when there were at least 5 lanes of people between him and Melia, heard Melia's words, but did not hear anyone else's words," said lawyer Dimitri Sadzaglishvili.

The lawyer also recalled the last interview of Irakli Kobakhidze, where Kobakhidze admitted that the law enforcement agencies acted provocatively.
