From October 2011 to October 2012 Irakli Gharibashvili, Bera Ivanishvili and Anzor Chubinidze were secretly wiretapped. The statement was made at a special briefing held at the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia in connection with the audio recordings aired on TV Pirveli.

The prosecutor's office submitted an interim report. According to the investigation agency, the wiretapping was  carried out by the order of the then CSD.

Forensic examination has also revealed that all the audio recordings in the report broadcasted on March 6, 2021, by TV channel Pirveli show traces of editing, and absolutely all of them are obtained by editing - today the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia made a statement, which concluded that recordings aired on TV Pirveli are altered and falsified

For the purpose of editing, using special programs, a background taken from different audio recordings is placed on them, and after editing, the audio recordings with modified content are finally obtained.
Naturally, when preparing a TV piece for different purposes, a certain audio or video material may be produced by editing, so that its actual content will not change. However, in this case, as a result of the editing of the audio recordings, through selective fixation, words and sentences with modified meaning are obtained. In the editing process, sentences, words, and in some cases even sounds are uttered by the conversation participants at different times and in different situations. In total, to obtain audio recordings with the content desired by the editors, in the recordings, the editing traces are marked in 170 places.
According to the prosecution, the expertise confirms that voices of other unknown persons, not belonging to Irakli Garibashvili, Bere Ivanishvili or Anzor Chubinidze were used in the conversations to make the audio recordings more intense and to artificially create the signs of alleged crime.

To make it more convincing the investigating agency today also included a simulated recording.
