Strasbourg accepted the case of Gigi Ugulava

The Strasbourg court has started proceedings in the case of Gigi Ugulava. The information is spread by the opposition politician himself, and he writes that it concerns the case on the basis of which he was arrested in 2020.

According to Sandro Baramidze, a lawyer of international law, "the court is interested in how much it met the standard of a court created on the basis of the law If a judge who is a former attorney general participated in the hearing, whether there was a problem with the judge's qualifications, whether the judiciary met the requirements of independence and impartiality."

So it is. The Strasbourg court has accepted my last detention case and communication has begun. Sooner or later the truth will be proven and the curtain will be drawn on Ivanishvili's worn-out law. As Ivanishvili himself would say, wait, wait for me," Ugulava wrote.

According to lawyer Sandro Baramidze, "the court is interested in whether the standard of a court established by law was met, if the judge, a former prosecutor general, participated in the hearing, whether there was a problem with the judge's qualifications, whether the court met the requirements of independence and impartiality."
For reference, prosecutor's office accused Gigi Ugulava of misappropriation and embezzlement of GEL 48 million from the Tbilisi Development Fund during his term as mayor. On February 10, the Supreme Court sentenced the former mayor of the capital to three years, two months and eight days in prison. On May 15, he was pardoned by President Salome Zurabishvili.
