US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan once again calls on political parties to implement the Charles Michel Agreement and emphasizes the need to improve and strengthen the independent justice system in Georgia. Degnan spoke about this after a meeting with the Minister of Justice.
“We all know that the rule of law and the justice system are a strong cornerstone of democracy and exactly because of this, our cooperation with the ministry of justice is of paramount importance. During the post-election discussions, we saw how important a strong and independent judiciary is. Because of this, we voiced our satisfaction that the political parties reached an agreement on the judicial reform, as set out in the April 19 agreement.
We explicitly call on all parties, both ruling and the opposition parties, to fulfill the April 19 agreement in its full spirit. The aim is to improve and strengthen the independent justice system. This is a task that we must all do and that serves the best interests of Georgia” said Kelly degnan
